I’ve been an animal lover my whole life—I currently own two dogs, three cats, and a few dozen chickens—so I was instantly intrigued when I heard about FarmHouse Fresh. Not only does this brand create skincare products using locally-sourced natural ingredients, but it also helps to save animals by running a non-profit farm animal rescue and supporting other animal-focused charities. What’s not to love?
I wanted to see if the brand is as amazing as it seems, so I used a variety of their bestselling products as part of my daily routine for a few weeks. Here’s what I loved about their product line—as well as the one thing I found to be disappointing.
FarmHouse Fresh is one of the best beauty brands we've tested this year.
What we like about FarmHouse Fresh
The products work well and smell amazing
I was able to try out a range of best-selling products from FarmHouse Fresh (or FHF), and I was really impressed with both the quality and effectiveness of most everything I tested. Here are some of the items I used and my thoughts on each one:
- Three Milk Ageless Moisturizer ($36): It’s easy to see why this moisturizer is a best-seller—it’s rich and creamy but also lightweight and dries quickly. It has a light floral scent that’s fresh but not overwhelming, and it dries down matte, making it a great option for wearing under makeup. Overall, I liked it for daytime use, but I found that it wasn’t quite as thick/moisturizing as I like for overnight wear.
- Whoopie! Shea Butter Hand Cream ($16): When I’m not writing product reviews, I run a homestead, which means I end up washing my hands constantly throughout the day. I keep a tube of hand cream next to the sink to keep my skin from getting dry and cracked, and this shea butter formula quickly became a favorite. It smells amazing and has a super thick consistency that keeps my hands moisturized and soft. It’s definitely a product I’d purchase again!
- Honey Lavender Salt Body Scrub ($36): I generally use a body scrub to exfoliate once a week, so I swapped this salt-based scrub into my routine. The scent was absolutely heavenly, and the gentle granules left my skin buttery soft. However, it didn’t necessarily work better than my regular sugar scrub, which only costs $12, so I don’t think I could justify spending $36 on it.
- Honey Heel Glaze ($32): I was skeptical of this product at first, as I thought it would make my feet sticky, but that wasn’t the case at all. The “heel glaze” has a thin, silky consistency, and it comes with a little fan brush for application. After I smoothed a thin layer over the soles of my feet, it dried within 10 minutes, and it left my feet amazingly soft and smooth. Plus, a little goes a long way, so the jar will last for ages. I would definitely buy this product again.
- Full Moon Dip Illumination Mousse ($48): This mousse is another moisturizer, and I loved how thick it was—perfect for wearing overnight. It contains retinol to help reduce signs of aging, but I can’t say I noticed a difference in my skin after using it for a week. (Then again, I also don’t have too many wrinkles to contend with… yet.) Still, I liked using it and would recommend giving it a try if you want a hydrating product that will help with aging.
- Pink Dust Illuminating Peptide Serum ($46): This serum came in beautiful packaging, but after swatching it on my hand, I didn’t end up using it on my face. The formula has a super shimmery finish that just wasn’t for me.
As with any skincare products, you may have to try a few options to find what works best for your skin, but overall, I was impressed with the quality of all the products I tried, even if some weren’t the right fit for my routine. I will say that I’m not generally one for scented products, but I found that the FHF scents were fresh and enjoyable, yet still subtle enough that they didn’t irritate my senses.
The brand also runs animal rescues
I’m an animal person through and through, so I absolutely love that FHF also runs a rescue for farm animals and is involved in a variety of other animal-based charities. In fact, the brand’s headquarters in Texas is also a registered non-profit farm animal sanctuary that houses a variety of horses, goats, and sheep—sounds like my dream workplace, truthfully!
Every purchase made from FHF helps to support their charitable endeavors, so you can feel good knowing that you’re helping to support a good cause as you shop.
There are sample sizes available for most products
Feel free to mix and match new scents with trial-size products when browsing the “Pick Your Own” section.
I’m always hesitant to buy new full-size skincare products—what if I don’t like it and then I’m stuck with a big $40 bottle of moisturizer? For this reason, I love that FHF offers sampler sets where you can pick and choose different products to try out.
There are “Pick Your Own” listings for both facial products and bath/body products, and you get to select three trial-size items from a list of dozens of best-selling products. This makes it easy to test out different options before you commit to a full product, and the mini containers would also be perfect if you want to take your favorite FHF products along while traveling.
What we don’t like about FarmHouse Fresh
Only a handful of products are actually organic
If you're anticipating that the entire collection uses only clean ingredients, unfortunately you'd be wrong.
There’s a lot of language about organic products and ingredients across the FHF website—the site’s tagline is even “Organics and Naturals”—so I was confused to find that none of the products I tested were labeled as organic.
After poking around the FHF website for a few minutes, I found a specific page for the brand’s organic products, and there are currently only seven products that meet this criteria. Considering the brand has hundreds of products in its current lineup, I was disappointed to find that so few products are actually organic, especially since a lot of the marketing uses this language.
Should you buy FarmHouse Fresh products?
If the appeal of saving a variety of farm animals isn't enough to make you shop FarmHouse Fresh, the quality skincare products will.
Definitely give it a try if you’re in the market for new skincare.
If you’re in the market for new skincare products, you should definitely take a look at the offerings from FarmHouse Fresh. The brand has a comprehensive selection of face, skin, and body products, and everything I tested was effective and smelled wonderful. The prices are comparable to other quality skincare brands, and as an added bonus, every purchase from FHF also supports a good cause, helping to care for neglected farm animals.
My personal favorite products were the Whoopie! Shea Butter Hand Cream and Honey Heel Glaze—both of which I’ll be buying again when I run out. Plus, if you want to try out different products before committing to a full jar, the brand offers different sampler sets where you can mix-and-match top-selling items. So really, what do you have to lose?
The FarmHouse Fresh skincare line is one curated with natural, wholesome ingredients and with every purchase, you can help rescue farm animals in need.
