The first day of Amazon's 2024 Prime Day taught us that deals on the best TVs are plentiful but they go fast. Luckily we've been keeping a close eye on when new TV deals become available—and the best streaming sticks and soundbars to pair with a TV.
If you've been holding out on getting your next TV until the right sale comes along, the time is now and the TV is the LG C3.
LG C3 OLED TV
LG OLEDs are at the top of our best list year in and year out, and this year is no exception. Even though the LG C3 came out in 2023, it's a phenomenal TV. Perfect black levels, attainable thanks to the OLED backlight technology that allows pixel-accurate brightness control, paired with a nice bright picture gives amazing contrast. Out of the box color accuracy is near perfect as well. The C3 really delivers, and at 15% off the typical Amazon price of $1,300, it's an incredible value.
Roku Ultra
LG's webOS built-in streaming platform is...fine, but Roku is much better. It's better organized, has snappy performance, and has been our favorite streaming OS for years. Getting a streaming device is a nice quality-of-life upgrade.
Bose Smart Soundbar 600
Save 20% on the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos with this Amazon deal.
Read Our ReviewTVs notoriously have terrible sound. It's not the TVs fault—speakers need more space than a thin TV chassis can provide for proper performance. The easiest way to address lackluster, thin sound is by plopping a soundbar down in front of the TV. The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 has the added benefit of supporting Dolby Atmos. Its low profile also means it won't block any of the beautiful picture on the C3.
Is Prime Day a good time to buy a TV?
There are two great times each year to get a new TV; Black Friday, and Amazon Prime Day. What you'll find on Amazon Prime Day are some deep discounts on last year's models and some modest savings (at best) on brand new models. The thing is, TVs at this point generally undergo such minor incremental updates from year to year, that 2023 models are just about as good as 2024 models. In some cases (such as the Hisense U8K), we actually prefer the previous model.
Could you potentially get something better during Black Friday? Sure, there's always a chance. But that means you'll be missing out on a stellar movie-watching, game-playing experience in your home for another four months at least. If you're on the fence about getting a new TV, Amazon Prime Day is an excellent time to do it.
What are the most popular TV brands?
Most TV brands are ones you've heard about for years, and they've all earned their place in your memory. Which is best mainly comes down to the type of TV you're looking for.
The most popular OLED brand for years has been LG. The LG C Series has been at the top of our best OLED TVs list consistently, and its LG G Series is one of the best premium TVs you can get. Other brands, like Sony, have OLED TVs available, but top-of-the-line OLED performance is still owned by LG. In 2022, a variation on the OLED technology called QD-OLED emerged from Samsung, and they still continue to produce some stunning QD-OLED TVs (as does Sony, although it looks like they might be leaving that market moving forward).
If you're looking for exceptionally bright TVs, mini-LED is the way to go, and the best you'll find is from Sony. Samsung also has some excellent mini-LED displays available, and for more wallet friendly options, Hisense and TCL battle it out every year to produce the best midrange and budget TVs you can find.
